Amanda Soliday
is employed by Grand Teton National Park, and is (along with her dog, Haley)
one of the two staff dog teams. She is also an active EMT-B in the
park, and a wilderness and structural firefighter. Amanda one of the founders of the Wyoming K-9 SAR. She has helped to develop and refine the testing criteria and standards used by the group. Amanda started training her first search dog in 1993, after participating as a victim for about a year. She is now operational with her second dog, Haley, who is certified and experienced in wilderness, avalanche, cadaver, tracking, water, building, and evidence. The team has also done a considerable amount of training in FEMA disaster and drug detection, and hope to test in both of these areas soon. Amanda has helped in the testing and certifying of most of the Wyoming K-9 dog teams, in addition to other teams throughout MT, WY, ID, and UT areas. She is continually taking seminars and trainings to further her search skills and the skills of her dog, in every aspect of search work. Other SAR trainings include: Man Tracking, Managing the Lost Person Incident, Wilderness EMT, ICS System, Ice Rescue, several Avalanche classes, FEMA disaster training, and Hug-a-Tree. |
